Michael Hughes Foundation (MHF)
Thanks to Julie Hughes from the Michael Hughes foundation, we took possession of an Automatic Defibrillator for Eastwood oval.
Please show your support by visiting their website http://www.mhf.life/
Michael was a much loved Father, Son, Brother, Friend and Husband. He was like many of us who at the age of 39 suffered a Sudden Cardiac arrest while in the bathroom at his home and sadly passed away. Had a defibrillator been handy perhaps he would be around to tell the story. The Michael Hughes Foundation was established in honour of Michael Hughes who passed away in 2013 from sudden cardiac arrest at 38 years of age. The aims of the Foundation are to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest, the placement of defibrillators in the community and turning bystanders into first responders.
The Michael Hughes Foundation, since its inception in 2014 donated many Defib units to many sporting and community organisations and they have been used to save people’s lives. One in fact donated to Football NSW saved Eric Knowles life, a father watching his son playing soccer at Valentine Park.
The statistics of Cardiac Arrest are astounding with over 33,000 deaths per year. Ages range from infants all the way up to the elderly.
We as a club hope the Defib unit will never need to be used, but are proud as a club to bring this initiative with the help of the Michael Hughes Foundation to the local community of Eastwood.

GROUND SET UP
Setting up the Grounds
Dressing the grounds is a requirement of teams that have their first game on a field each weekend and undressing the grounds is the requirement of the team playing last. It would be great if the parents could get involved as the coaches and managers will be trying to get the team ready for the game so if parents can help out it is much appreciated. Please check the draw to see if your team is the first team to play at Eastwood.
Thank you all for helping get us up and running for 2017. Any questions please feel free to contact your Manager or Coach.
